I'm pretty new to professional photography. So far I've had only a handful of paid client sessions. I've enjoyed every second of each one and am so thankful for the families that were willing to take a chance with a new photographer. I am learning so much every day and meeting some amazing families along the way.
My passion for photography started a long time ago. In my early 20's, I was always the one with a camera at all the parties. I enjoyed printing off all the drunken pictures and showing them to everyone. It became an inside joke with my friends that I always had a camera on me.
In 2007 I was working at a bank and one of my customers introduced me to the DSLR world. She was a professional photographer and nice enough to let me tag along for some photo shoots. Shortly after that I got married and had kids. I took a lot of pictures of my kids but didn't have much time to further my skills.
Last May I was asked by a friend to help her photograph a wedding. Neither one of us were professional photographers but someone had admired her pictures and asked her to do a wedding. Her and I both scrambled to learn more about our cameras and even bought new equipment. The wedding happened in August and I felt a high the entire day. I loved every second of it and decided right then that I wanted to feel that as much as possible.
Around the same time I met another local photographer who has been more amazing than she'll ever know. I had been admiring her work from afar for quite some time. It was like taking to a celebrity when we first started talking. She has been mentoring me and spending hours answering all my crazy questions.
So here I am, trying to dive into this professional photography world and wondering what the heck I got myself into. I spend most of my free time watching youtube videos, reading books and researching on the internet. I wish I could know everything right now but I am trying to be patient.
I can't wait to see where I am a year from now but until then I will offer my services for a lower price while I am learning and gaining equipment. Thank you to all my friends, family, current clients and future clients for supporting me and allowing me to do what I love.
